    When a payment is processed, Apple does not store card numbers or PIN information on the iPhone or on Apple’s servers.  

    This way, both merchants and customers can be sure that their data remains theirs.

    Transactions that require a PIN will automatically bring up a screen for entering the PIN when using Tap to Pay on an iPhone.  

    When that screen appears, Tap to Pay on iPhone is designed to prevent apps running in the background from reading sensors that could reveal any part of the PIN.  

    While a payment is being processed, the Tap to Pay feature on the iPhone is designed to prevent all photo, video, screenshot, and screen recording functions on the merchant’s iPhone from capturing the customer’s card number or PIN information.

    Accessible to everyone

    For customers who need visual or other types of assistance, Tap to Pay on iPhone includes built-in accessibility features to help them enter their PIN securely.  

    Voice prompts guide customers to enter their PIN on the screen or tap the screen to select each digit—one tap for 1, two for 2, and so on.  

    To send the PIN, all they have to do is swipe right with two fingers.
