Banca Transilvania and Visa launch animated virtual card in dollars

• Over 70% of the cards issued by Banca Transilvania are used in BT Pay, in digital format.
• The number of virtual cards issued by BT has doubled in the last nine months.
• BT Pay travel solutions mean cards in different currencies, travel insurance and currency exchange

Banca Transilvania and Visa, one of the world leaders in digital payments, are launching the BT Visa Virtual Animated BT Card in (US) dollars, which complements the mobile and online payment and travel solutions available in the BT Pay app .

It is a debit card, issued and managed exclusively from BT Pay, with no issuance or administration costs. Customers can use it immediately for payments in shops and online, regardless of exchange rates. The dollar account is automatically opened online for people who do not have an account in that currency when they apply for the card.

Last year we led the way in Europe with the first animated virtual card issued from BT Pay, building the digital foundation for a new generation of innovative payment solutions in-app. Following the expansion of virtual card options with the BT UNTOLD card launched last year and the euro card earlier this year, we are continuing this momentum with the launch of an animated virtual card in a new currency, the dollar, offering our customers both currency flexibility and an integrated digital experience. As before, all the steps are simple and intuitive, all in the BT Pay app: from instant issuance to use and management. We look forward to providing our customers with solutions for their increasingly diverse and complex needs, both for online payments and travel, making managing personal finances easier, anywhere in the world, including the U.S.

BT Pay solutions for travelers: 

• Virtual cards in dollars, euros and lei and the UNTOLD Card, issued and managed exclusively via the app;
• Travel insurance, 100% online in about two minutes, valid in Romania and abroad;
• Currency exchange directly from the app, to fund BT cards in dollars and euros.

Over 70% of the total number of cards issued by Banca Transilvania are used in BT Pay in digital format, and over 280,000 are 100% virtual cards. The number of virtual cards issued by BT has doubled in the last nine months.

More than 6 million cards in Romania are issued by Banca Transilvania, representing one in four cards in circulation.
