Given that only 18% of homes in Romania are covered by voluntary insurance, Banca Transilvania and Groupama are working to increase insurance coverage and promote financial and digital literacy. Starting now, all of the bank’s customers, including those without mortgages, can purchase Home Insurance through BT Pay, a policy issued by Groupama, the leader of the Romanian insurance industry.

Comprehensive home insurance, 100% online 

• The insurance policy, which can be obtained entirely online, is available to both individuals who own property in Romania and those who wish to insure another person’s property, also located in Romania. Thanks to this flexibility, the insurance solution is also suitable for Romanians living abroad.
  
  
• The insurance covers the most common risks that can affect your home, your personal property, and any damage caused to others. Customers can add optional coverage, such as insurance for electrical, electronic, and household appliances to cover electrical damage, emergency technical assistance, or insurance for heating systems.
  
  
• Mandatory PAD (Disaster Insurance Policy) coverage can be issued at the same time as the optional insurance policy, also through BT Pay.
  
  
• The cost of the insurance is customized and calculated based on the property’s characteristics and the coverage options selected. Payment can be made in full or in 6 or 12 installments if made with a Star BT credit card.
  
  
• The policy is valid for 1 year.
  
  

Fires, the main risk 

Fires are the primary risk, causing significant losses for homeowners. Eight of the ten largest claims paid out in the first nine months of 2025 were for fire damage, totaling over 1.3 million euros (approximately 6.9 million lei), according to the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania.
