BT Asset Management becomes a shareholder in AnimaWings
BT Asset Management S.A.I. has become a shareholder in AnimaWings(Anima Wings S.A.), at a time when the airline is accelerating its growth by expanding its fleet and increasing the number of domestic and international destinations.
The agreement was signed in Bucharest, at AnimaWings’ headquarters. The agreement will undergo the necessary review and approval processes by the Competition Council and the Commission for the Examination of Foreign Direct Investments. The acquisition is being advised by Filip & Company and PwC Romania, with the involvement of a dedicated team from the Banca Transilvania Financial Group. The transaction will be finalized upon receipt of the necessary approvals from the authorities.

AnimaWings, a national project
This partnership represents an investment in Romania, at a time when the private sector is the driving force behind economic growth. BT Asset Management’s financial strength, combined with the airline’s operational expertise and competitive advantages, will help build a strong regional player and a national project.
AnimaWings will help improve Romania’s connectivity with European tourist and economic hubs, as well as strengthen ties between Romanians abroad and their home country. It will also help attract tourists and boost the development of the business environment.
AnimaWings’ Plans
Founded in 2020, AnimaWings is a 100% Romanian airline, developed within the Memento Group alongside the tour operator Christian Tour. The current fleet consists of seven modern Airbus aircraft, and the plan is to expand it to 14 by the end of 2027.
During the summer season, the airline will operate 60 routes to 30 destinations, covering both domestic flights—between Bucharest and major regional economic hubs such as Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, and Oradea—and key European routes, including London, Paris, Munich, Milan, Istanbul, Prague, Athens, Stockholm, and Geneva.
For BT Asset Management, this investment represents a diversification of its portfolio and support for a strategic industry in Romania. The company, part of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, is the market leader in asset management both in terms of assets under management—which exceed 10 billion lei—and in terms of the number of investors, which stands at approximately 475,000.
