Banca Transilvania has started distributing more than 320,000 cards to OTP Bank Romania customers, which they can use starting March 3, 2025, as the recently announced merger between the two banks takes place on February 28, 2025.

Individual customers are the first to receive the cards, starting December 2024.

The distribution of cards to individuals began in mid-December 2024, both at home and in BT and OTP Bank branches. Customers have alternatives to find out how to pick up their cards:

• Information BT and OTP Bank Romania received by courier or email;
• Transilvania Bank website;
• Call Center & Customer Care teams of the two banks:
  • BT: 0800 800 800 881; +40264 308 014; otp@btrl.ro;
  • OTP Bank Romania: 0800 88 88 22 88 88; +4021 308 57 10; office@otpbank.ro;
• The headquarters of Banca Transilvania.

Business customers will receive their cards from mid-January 2025

The distribution of cards to corporate customers and specific information, including through the Banca Transilvania website, will start in mid-January 2025. Customers will be able to collect the cards exclusively at BT and OTP Bank branches.

Cards must be activated upon receipt, at any ATM of Banca Transilvania, using the code received via SMS.

Security of money, cards and personal data

Banca Transilvania advises customers to be more careful with their cards:

• never share BT card details as a result of receiving emails, text messages or phone calls, even if they appear to be from BT or OTP Bank Romania;
• not to send card details to receive money;
• report suspicious actions and fraud to BT(0264 308 055; contact@btrl.ro).
