BT, together with Via Transilvanica, on the anniversary and the inauguration of a symbolic milestone

Banca Transilvania celebrated together with Via Transilvanica the 7th anniversary of the project, on the occasion of which a symbolic milestone was inaugurated on the island of Șimian and the Via Transilvanica Membership Program was launched. The event Via Transilvanica Day was organized in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, on 11 June 2025.

The symbolic bollard on Simian Island, a message about continuity and collective memory

The symbolic terminal inaugurated on Șimian (Mehedinți County) is an extension of the Via Transilvanica route, which until now ended at Drobeta-Turnu Severin, at Traian's Bridge. Șimian thus becomes the end of the Via Transilvanica route and will help to revive the area. It is also a message about continuity, collective memory and openness towards the Turkish community and the cultural heritage left in this part of the country, with the island of Șimian bearing the traces of Ada Kaleh, an area and community that disappeared in the 1970s when the Iron Gates dam was built.

The Borna was unveiled by Ömer Tetik, CEO of BT, and His Excellency Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bucharest.

Membership program: Via Transilvanica belongs to everyone who believes in it

Via Transilvanica announced on the same day the launch of the Membership Program for people who want to support the ongoing maintenance and extension efforts of the route through monthly (21 or 25 lei) or annual (250 or 300 lei) donations.

Via Transilvanica - The road that connects between communities, identity and sustainable development

Via Transilvanica is the first 1,400-kilometer route that crosses the country through 10 counties and 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites, initiated by the Tășuleasa Social Association to be traveled on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. It is aimed at people of all ages who want to discover places, history, culture and communities, as well as outdoor activities. The Via Transilvanica is also an outdoor sculpture exhibition: Romanian and international artists have sculpted works of art on the bollards that mark the route every kilometer. Miniature versions of the bollards and Via Transilvania branded products can be purchased online.

Banca Transilvania - Tășuleasa Social Association - Via Transilvanica

Banca Transilvania and the Tășuleasa Social Association have been partners for over 10 years, with the Transylvanian Forest, Romania's afforestation initiatives. Over the years, BT, Tășuleasa Social and more than 15,000 volunteers have afforested a total area of 75 hectares with 450,000 saplings in several counties in the country.

Today, Banca Transilvania is the strategic partner of the Tășuleasa Social Association for the sustainable development of the Via Transilvanica project, contributing financially, through volunteer work and promotion. They have a common mission to enhance Romania's cultural, historical and natural heritage through sustainable investment in communities.
