14 March 2022 Reading time 3:00 minutes

eMAG, Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert and Mastercard donate products worth 1.1 million lei for Ukrainian refugees in Romania. The donation consists of personal hygiene products, bed linen, mattresses, blankets, refrigerated beds, external batteries and flashlights, which will reach their destination through the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.

According to the Romanian Border Police, almost 14,500 Ukrainian citizens entered our country on 13 March this year, needing to cover their needs during their transit or stay in Romania.

Statements:

  • Raed Arafat, Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior, Head of the Department for Emergency Situations: "The lesson of solidarity has shown us all these days that together, through sustained and integrated efforts, Romania can be a real support for all those who are direct victims of the military conflict that has broken out for more than two weeks in Ukraine. Through the permanent communication that exists between governmental institutions and civil society, the support actions carried out are leading to the continuation of the process of integrated coordination of all efforts and aid from civil society in order to make the whole mechanism of support to Ukrainian citizens more efficient. Thus, I would like to thank eMAG, all partners and representatives of civil society who joined this noble goal of helping their fellow human beings".

  • Omer Tetik, General Manager, Banca Transilvania: "Thesolidarity of the Romanians to help refugees is impressive. So must be the solidarity of companies. I have always found eMAG, Mobexpert and Mastercard open in every way. We have done well together before, at the beginning of the pandemic or on other occasions, and we are doing so now. We donate with the thought of those who need us and with the hope that tomorrow will be better".
  • Dan Sucu, Founder Mobexpert: "The spectre of a war so close to us was unthinkable until yesterday. The drama that our Ukrainian neighbours are going through cannot leave us indifferent. Any help is welcome, we all have an obligation to get involved".
  • Cosmin Vladimirescu, Country Manager Mastercard Romania and Croatia: "Many people have left their lives behind for an unexpected tomorrow. In such unspeakable moments, solidarity is the only possible reaction, the only way we all have to respond. Every effort counts, every help brings hope, beyond all borders".
  • Tudor Manea, CEO eMAG: "Just as the families of Romanians across the country have offered shelter to their neighbors who had to leave everything behind, we, the private sector, have a duty to show the same responsibility in the face of the tragedy that these people are living. We are trying to help as much as we can with donations and are appealing to everyone who can to join us."
