BT event at the Romanian Embassy in Austria: dialogue on investment and growth

On January 12, Banca Transilvania Group kicked off its series of international events for 2026 in Vienna by organizing, together with the Romanian Embassy in Austria, the Connecting Growth – Investing in Romania event. The event brought together representatives of the Romanian and Austrian business communities, Romanian diplomats, as well as Banca Transilvania and BT Capital Partners.

The dialogue dedicated to Romania's economic and investment opportunities and prospects was attended by Andrea Amza-András, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Austria, Ömer Tetik, CEO of Banca Transilvania, Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, and Brigit Reiter-Braunwieser, Team Lead & Director CEE Austrian Business Agency.

"Romania currently has a window of opportunity that we must exploit intelligently. Thanks to its geostrategic position, membership of the European market, and highly skilled human resources, our country is becoming increasingly attractive for solid, long-term investments. In Vienna, we had the opportunity to present these strengths and show that Romania is both a competitive destination and a reliable partner for development. Banca Transilvania and BT Capital Partners support Romanian companies in their internationalization strategy and remain committed to building economic bridges between Romania and European markets. We believe in the potential of the Romanian business environment and its ability to generate value in the region. Our mission is to turn proximity into a strategic advantage and transform opportunities into concrete results for our clients and partners," Ömer Tetik said at the event.

In his message, Andrea Amza-András emphasizedthat economic relations between the two countries are at a moment of maturity and strategic opportunity, benefiting from considerable potential for expansion and deepening:"On this solid foundation, we believe that the next stage of the bilateral partnership should focus on direct collaboration between Romanian and Austrian companies, the joint development of innovative projects, the exchange of know-how, and the creation of added value for both markets. Experience shows that economic development is stronger and more sustainable when it is built together. In this context, the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Austria remains actively involved in supporting economic diplomacy and cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. With the clear objective of supporting Romanian companies in their internationalization process, the diplomatic mission recently launched, together with a group of Romanians living in Austria, the Romanian Business Innovation Platform Austria. This initiative was designed as a practical tool for connecting companies, ideas, and opportunities, aimed at supporting the development of concrete and innovative Romanian-Austrian cooperation projects. We are delighted that Banca Transilvania is joining us in this process."

Austria, the second largest investor in Romania

Austria is the second largest investor in Romania, after Germany, with a strong presence in energy, banking, industry, infrastructure, and services, areas that are essential for the competitiveness of the Romanian economy.

The economic relationship between Romania and Austria is based on economic interdependence, constant trade and a dynamic entrepreneurial environment, consolidated by their common membership in the European Union and the Schengen Area. Added to this is the significant contribution of the Romanian community in Austria, which helps to permanently strengthen the ties between the two economies.
