Banca Transilvania has exceeded the milestone of 8 million cards in its portfolio, 70% of which are digital cards enrolled in the BT Pay app.

BT is the leader of the card market in Romania, both in terms of issuance and acceptance, thanks to its solid infrastructure and innovation-oriented strategy. The extensive range of solutions is designed for both card users and merchants - physical POS and POS App, e-commerce services, Pay with BT Pay option, etc. - consolidating Banca Transilvania's position as the main facilitator of electronic transactions in the country.

The bank also marked the following milestones in 2025: 

• Over 650,000 cards in foreign currency, euros and dollars, in its portfolio;
  
  
• Over 550,000 virtual cards issued directly in BT Pay, in its portfolio;
  
  
• Over 200,000 BT Visa UNTOLD cards, virtual and physical, in its portfolio. Launched in July 2025, the physical BT Visa UNTOLD card is the first in Romania and among the first in the world with OLED technology, thanks to which it lights up with every contactless payment.
  
  
• Issuance of 60,000 McLaren F1 Team Mastercard Debit (in lei) and McLaren F1 Team Mastercard Debit Gold (in euro) virtual cards. These are the first cards in the world issued in partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 Team and were launched in July 2025.
  
  
• Payments and money transfers made with BT Visa Untold and McLaren F1 Team Mastercard Debit cards via BT Pay come with a special sound effect in the app, an innovation that transforms ordinary payments into unique experiences.
  
  
• Star, Romania's largest loyalty programme for customers with shopping cards, has reached 40,000 partner locations. Through this programme, the bank offers customers who use Star cards loyalty points and the possibility to make interest-free instalment purchases.
  
  
• The Pay with BT Pay payment option is now available on 30,000 websites.
  
  
• The launch of BT Pay Italia for Romanians residing in Italy and for Italians, an application that means Italian IBAN, digital card and instant transfers.
  
  
• Achieving a new record in November 2025 for the volume of transactions made through its payment ecosystem, with cards, through apps, at POS terminals and ATMs: 11 million transactions in a single day, on Black Friday.

It was an excellent year for Banca Transilvania in terms of card business, as we consolidated our market leadership in both the issuing and acceptance segments. 2025 was a year of firsts and innovations in our card-based payment ecosystem – new products, solutions and features, as well as the development of impactful strategic partnerships. We would like to thank our partners, customers and teams who contributed to these results. 2026 looks to be at least as dynamic, a year with ambitious plans for the bank to continue contributing to the digitalisation of the population and the business environment. We will invest in new technologies and support the evolution of digital payments in Romania, so that they become increasingly simple, integrated and accessible.

In 2025, BT Pay became the only app through which individual customers can bank with Banca Transilvania, following an extensive process of simplifying the digital customer experience, carried out throughout the year.

Banca Transilvania’s ecosystem offers access to banking services from anywhere in the world and includes cards, applications (for mobile and web) and digital solutions, in addition to the national infrastructure, with over 177,000 POS terminals and over 2,000 ATMs and self-banking devices.
