Banca Transilvania Launches BT Pay Italia: Italian IBAN, Digital Card and Instant Transfers

Banca Transilvania, the largest bank in Romania and South-Eastern Europe, announces the launch of BT Pay Italia for Romanians residing in Italy and Italians. The app means everyday banking solutions in Italy, Romania and anywhere in the world, as well as connecting with family and friends using BT Pay in Italy or Romania.
In February 2025, the Bank announced the expansion of BT Pay in Europe, an ecosystem built in Romania thanks to Banca Transilvania's application, used by over 4 million people.
The first step is to download BT Pay from Google Play or the App Store.
BT Pay also comes with an Italian IBAN, so that you can receive your income from Italy to your BT account without any collection fee. BT Pay Italia also means the following services and benefits:
- Online account in EUR and in RON, opened via the app, based on the Italian or Romanian identity card, in the latter case accompanied by a document evidencing your residence in Italy. There account opening and maintenance fee is zero and collections to your account are free of charge.
- The digital BT Visa debit card, in EUR, which can be used immediately in the app, as well as a physical card that the clients receive free of charge anywhere in Italy. The card can be loaded free of charge by transferring money from other cards enrolled in BT Pay, issued by banks and fintechs in Romania, Italy or other countries;
- Payments by phone and online confirmation of payments via app;
- Instant transfers in EUR or RON to BT Pay users in Italy or Romania, free of charge, based on the recipient's phone number or IBAN; money transfers anywhere in the world;
- Savings account in EUR, with an interest rate of 2.2%/year, as well as the possibility to save through term deposits;
- Foreign exchange;
- Cash withdrawals from any ATMs in Italy. BT offers 5 free withdrawals/month from ATMs in any country in the world.
Banca Transilvania is the only Romanian bank in Italy with a Romanian-Italian team in Rome.

We want to spread the success of BT Pay in Romania ever since its launch, with this version adapted to people in Italy.
