For over 400,000 BT customers, identity details have been automatically updated

The collaboration between Banca Transilvania and the General Directorate for Personal Records (DGEP ) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has changed the customer experience when dealing with BT. More than 400,000 resident individual customers have had their identity document data updated since November 2023, when the pilot project started.

Verification and updating of customer data is done through instant information exchange between Banca Transilvania and the General Directorate for Population Register.

Positive impact on customer experience

Automation has a positive impact both on new customers, when opening an account with BT through any channel - through the BT Pay app or in branches - and on existing customers, for whom verification is done regularly.

• Customers no longer need to come to BT to update their identity information as it is done automatically.
• Customers must continue to update the following information in their relationship with BT: source of funds, change of employer/occupation/telephone number, PEP (Publicly Exposed Persons) status, purpose and nature of the business relationship, in which case the update can be done through the BT Pay application, on the bank's website and in BT branches.
