Microinvest receives €20 million in financing from the EBRD to support entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova

Microinvest, the largest microfinance company in the Republic of Moldova, is receiving a senior multi-currency loan equivalent to €20 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the largest institutional investor in the Republic of Moldova.

The financing agreement was officially signed in London, at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, by:

  • Francis Malige, Director General, Financial Institutions, EBRD;
  • Dmitrii Svinarenco, Executive Director, Microinvest;
  • Levon Khanikyan, Chairman of the Management Committee, Victoriabank.

The financing is intended to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and will contribute to the development of the private sector in the Republic of Moldova, as well as to increasing the competitiveness and resilience of Microinvest, a company acquired in 2025 by Victoriabank, which is part of the Banca Transilvania Group.

The partnership with Microinvest represents an important step in strengthening Moldova's private sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of the country's economy, and expanding their access to finance is essential for growth, innovation, and resilience. This new financing agreement will enable Microinvest to reach more entrepreneurs across the country, supporting them to invest, grow and build stronger businesses, despite the challenging regional context.

The signing of the financing agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development represents an important step for Microinvest. This €20 million agreement is Microinvest's first transaction with the EBRD and strengthens our ability to support entrepreneurs across the country. We thank the EBRD for its strategic involvement in Moldova and for its trust in Microinvest as a key partner in strengthening financial inclusion.

We are proud to extend our partnership with the EBRD to Microinvest, a company we recently acquired. This loan will enable Microinvest to expand its financing for the SME segment, providing the resources necessary for further growth. It is a direct contribution that Microinvest, together with Victoriabank, is making to the development of business and the economy.

The financing announced today is part of the EBRD's commitment to support the development of the private sector and the green transition of the Republic of Moldova, while promoting sustainable growth and resilience in the context of regional challenges.
