500,000 people are saving money using the "Round Up" feature in the BT Pay app

500,000 people who use BT Pay are saving money through the Round Up feature. Adoption has accelerated year over year: the number of Round Up users has increased approximately sevenfold over the past three years.

Payments made in Romania or other countries at POS terminals or online using BT debit cards in lei—whether digital or physical—generate savings through Round Up, earning 3% interest. The amount saved can be viewed in BT Pay and can be accessed at any time by transferring it to a Banca Transilvania checking account, all through the app.

  • 7 out of 10 people with savings accounts at Banca Transilvania use this feature, Round Up.

  • More than 12,000 people activate Round Up every month. For many of the bank’s customers, this feature is the first step toward consistent saving and developing financial habits that contribute to financial literacy and better management of personal resources.

  • 31% of customers who have activated Round Up are between the ages of 18 and 26, and 34% are between the ages of 27 and 42.

  • On average, a customer saves about 200 lei per month with Round Up.

Savings with Round Up

  • BT Pay users must enable the option in the Cards → Round Up section.

  • Customers can choose to round up their spending to the nearest 1 leu, 5 lei, or 10 lei, with the difference transferred to their Round Up savings account. For example, if the round-up threshold is set at 10 lei, a payment of 3.5 lei will be rounded up to 6.5 lei.

  • With Round Up Accelerator, the amounts you save are multiplied by two, three, or five.
