Banca Transilvania's offer for Bancpost customers who have Swiss franc loans with real estate guarantees
26 June 2018 Reading time 2:00 minutes

Banca Transilvania, majority shareholder of Bancpost, launches an offer for Bancpost customers who have loans in Swiss francs (CHF) with real estate collateral and who wish to convert them into lei or euro.
Details of the offer will be presented to customers by teams of Bancpost and BT employees in Bancpost units included in the campaign.
Offer details:
- Campaign period: 2 July - 31 August this year.
- The discount is 18% and is applied to the current balance, from which any outstanding payment obligations and calculated amounts owed by the client and not yet due will be deducted.
- The chf/leu or CHF/euro conversion will be made at the NBR exchange rate from the date of signing the documentation at the notary.
- The notarial costs related to the conversion operation are borne by Bancpost. In case the legal situation of the property is modified compared to the time of the mortgage or special powers of attorney and/or inheritance and/or partition operations are required, the costs are borne by the clients.
Offer flow:
- The approximately 2,250 Bancpost customers eligible for the conversion offer will be contacted by phone and invited to a meeting at one of the Bancpost units included in the campaign.
- At the meeting at Bancpost with the joint BT - Bancpost team, the estimated amounts of the offer will be presented, namely: the total discount; the new balance of the loan following the application of the discount; the new monthly payment amount; the steps to be followed for a Bancpost customer to become a customer of Banca Transilvania.
- Customers have a minimum of 15 days to make a decision to accept the conversion. The actual signing of the documents is scheduled after acceptance of the offer.
- Together with the conversion operation, the same contract authenticated in front of the notary will also change the creditor, from Bancpost to Banca Transilvania.
Banca Transilvania intended to include in the acquisition of Bancpost the issue of customers with Swiss franc loans that were assigned, but BT's offers were rejected by the assignee. For this reason, the offer does not address those who had in the past loans granted by Bancpost, but which were assigned by Bancpost to other entities before Banca Transilvania acquired the majority stake held by Eurobank in Bancpost.
