Banca Transilvania and PTP Online are launching in Cluj-Napoca the facility of paying with your phone, through the 24pay application, for tickets and online passes for bus, trolleybus, tram and minibus transport, operated by the Cluj-Napoca Public Transport Company. Cluj citizens, students and tourists now have a modern, fast and secure way to purchase their tickets, at no extra cost.
BT and PTP Online - the company that developed the 24pay application and member of the Ecco Group Development group of companies - have set out to contribute together to the development of online services in the field of public transport, an area less covered in Romania. The facility has already been launched in six other cities in Romania - Arad, Brasov, Iasi, Ramnicu Valcea, Timisoara and Sibiu - to which Cluj-Napoca will be added today.
The 24pay app can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store, and afterwards a Visa or Mastercard is required.
3 ways of purchasing tickets and season tickets, from public transport or from stations in Cluj-Napoca:
- Via the 24pay app, Public Transport section;
- By bringing your phone close to the NFC symbol on 24pay posters on public transport;
- By typing in the 4-digit code on the 24pay posters on the buses. This payment option is a first compared to the other 6 cities where 24pay has been launched so far.
"With this launch, Banca Transilvania, as part of the Cluj community, contributes to the transformation of Cluj into a Smart City. For BT, investments, partnerships and digital transformation projects are a priority, giving convenience and mobility to customers and communities", says Marius Flore, Director Integrated Digital Services, Banca Transilvania.
"We are pleased to have extended digital pay-by-phone public transport services in Cluj-Napoca, an important city in PTP Online's national expansion strategy. The 24pay system is made available free of charge to transport operators, with no development and implementation costs. Basically, with a single application, any person living or travelling in these 7 cities in the country can simply and quickly pay, without any additional cost, for public transport via their phone, through the 24pay application in which the bank card is enrolled, without having to search for a ticket office or need cash", says Dan Cernea, general manager of PTP Online.
24pay, over 70,000 users in 9 months
Within 9 months, 24pay reached over 70,000 users. On average, more than 2,500 transactions are carried out every day via the app to buy tickets online for public transport. Payments for the purchase of tickets are made through the card payment solution offered by Banca Transilvania.
