Message from BT top management
"We are pleased to announce that Banca Transilvania and Bancpost have become one bank, following the successful merger on 31 December 2018 and the completion of an ambitious plan to integrate Bancpost into BT's business over just nine months.
It is a step forward in the story of our bank, in which the acquisitions of Bancpost, Victoriabank and Volksbank Romania have a special place. 2009 is another milestone in the history of Banca Transilvania because the business model was adapted to the economic context of that time. BT's first reinvention took place in 2001, when it started the nationwide expansion of its branch network.
We have the courage, experience and resources to reinvent our bank if economic challenges require it or, on the other hand, if market opportunities arise.
Welcome to BT!
We welcome Bancpost customers and employees to Banca Transilvania. We are confident that it will be a quick adjustment, especially as both banks have Romanian DNA and history with many aspects in common. We also want to carry forward the strengths found at Bancpost, appreciated by customers and the team.
Banca Transilvania's responsibility towards clients, shareholders and the economy
We know that, being the largest financier of the national economy, SMEs and individuals' plans, BT has from now on an increasing responsibility towards the bank's 3 million customers, 10,000 employees of Banca Transilvania Financial Group, almost 30,000 shareholders and towards the Romanian economy. We will also continue our involvement in the growth of Victoriabank in the Republic of Moldova and in the consolidation of the banking system in the neighbouring country.
In the 25 years since it started the BT story, Banca Transilvania has reinvested in Romania, in the growth of its business, almost all the profits obtained, thus managing to support the economy, the companies, the entrepreneurs and the dreams of the Romanians. In the last 10 years alone, BT has lent to almost 75,000 companies, which in turn support 1.3 million employees and their families. Also, in the last 10 years Banca Transilvania has paid over 3.7 billion lei in taxes to the state budget and has invested over 1.1 billion lei in the development of its activities.
BT is one of the most active supporters of social and educational projects, with an average of 23 million lei invested annually in sports, communities and education. We are the number 1 supporter of Romanian basketball and partners of the world number 1 in tennis, Simona Halep. We support over 1,000 social involvement and responsibility projects annually. In turn, Bancpost was the first fully privatised bank in Romania and an active player in the community. Banca Transilvania will continue in this direction and assumes its responsibility as the main supporter of the development of the economy, companies and people by providing financing and contributing to the implementation of individual plans.
Our priorities will continue to focus on innovation and technology to simplify and streamline our customers' relationship with BT.
Thank you to our customers for being with us during this integration. We assure them that they are working with an entrepreneurial bank, for whom the positive experience offered is at the forefront.
We also thank those who contributed to the success of this acquisition, integration and merger: the BT and Bancpost teams, authorities, consultants and lawyers. They all made this historic moment possible for Banca Transilvania and for the Romanian banking system.
Banca Transilvania has COURAGE. The BT story goes on".
