Banca Transilvania launches the Meal Card
19 July 2018 Reading time 3:00 minutes

Banca Transilvania launches the BT Meal Card, intended for food shopping and restaurant consumption payment in the bank's network of partners. It is a Visa card, which can be obtained exclusively through the employer if it is among the institutions or companies in Romania that offer employees meal cards as an extra-salary benefit. The newest BT card is the digital version of the printed meal vouchers.
The new product completes the BT card portfolio and is a natural step for the bank, given its focus on digital, the significant number of customers who receive the salary at Banca Transilvania, as well as those who work with BT to transfer employees' salaries.
The BT meal card is contactless and can be used anywhere in Romania to pay for food purchases within the network of stores and restaurants partnering with Banca Transilvania. It gives flexibility to pay, regardless of whether its value is lower or higher than that of a classic meal ticket. It is also rechargeable: the employer will replenish the monthly meal cards of the employees with the amount equivalent to the meal vouchers. The money on the Table Card cannot be withdrawn or transferred. This card is automatically renewed every 3 years and is received directly from the employer.
The companies that offer employees the BT Meal Card have a number of benefits:
- Tax facility through exemption from profit tax for the value represented by meal vouchers;
- Easy management and the possibility of monitoring them;
- Efficiency: due to the recharge of the meal card, the value of the meal vouchers reaches the employees quickly;
- Low costs with the management of the distribution of the amounts.

- Upon receipt, the card must be activated at one of The Transilvania Bank's ATMs using the activation code received by SMS.
