BT, part of the banking consortium supporting one of the largest green financing projects in Central and Eastern Europe, in Ogrezeni - Giurgiu

Banca Transilvania is the lead arranger in one of the largest green financing deals in Central and Eastern Europe, worth €460 million, granted to Enery (Austria) through a consortium of eight banks.

The financing supports the development of the Ogrezeni project in Giurgiu County, one of the largest hybrid parks in Europe, which will integrate photovoltaic energy production with an advanced battery energy storage system. It will be completed in the summer of 2027 and will generate green energy to power approximately 684,000 households, contributing to a reduction in emissions of around 303,000 tons of CO₂ per year.

Enery is an independent renewable energy producer in Central and Eastern Europe, and the Ogrezeni project is supported by a partnership with the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, a fund dedicated to investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure in European Union countries in Central and Eastern Europe, which aims to increase connectivity, energy security, and economic growth in the "Three Seas" region, between the Baltic Sea, the Adriatic Sea, and the Black Sea.

Consortium structure:

  • Global Coordinator and Sustainability Coordinator: UniCredit Bank
  • Mandated Lead Arranger and Facility & Security Agent: ING Bank
  • Mandated Lead Arrangers: Banca Transilvania, Intesa Sanpaolo Group, represented by Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania and Všeobecná úverová banka (Slovakia), and National Bank of Greece
  • Lead Arrangers: Exim Banca Românească and Alpha Bank, through its Luxembourg branch

The Ogrezeni project represents a major step towards increasing renewable energy production capacity in Romania and the region, contributing to energy security, emissions reduction, and local economic development.
