500,000 BT credit cards: from wallet cards to digital cards and self-banking

Of the over half a million credit cards issued by Banca Transilvania, approximately 100,000 are found in the BT Pay or Apple Pay apps, for phone shopping. BT credit cards today mean not only one more card in the wallet, but also personalized experience and self-banking thanks to digital cards. 1 out of 6 credit cards issued in Romania is from Banca Transilvania.
BT customers are increasingly using credit cards:
- +30% the number of credit card transactions in the first 9 months of this year, compared to the same period in 2018.
- Over 70% of all card payments are contactless.
- 22% of BT phone payments are by credit card.
- Over 90% of BT credit card transactions are purchases, mainly food and home, fuel, electronics and clothing.
- The BT credit card portfolio includes shopping cards (STAR Card) and travel cards (BT Flying Blue), which, in addition to the loan, means STAR loyalty points, respectively Flying Blue Miles or the possibility to buy in interest-free installments.
Customers of Banca Transilvania with credit cards enrolled in the BT Pay application can pay by phone, send or receive money, can always see the money in the account, but also the STAR loyalty points. Moreover, from the application, the cards can be managed very easily, by paying the monthly obligations for the credit on the card, setting the transaction limits and, where appropriate, blocking the card.
"We pay special attention to both the benefits and the digiale experience offered by credit cards. We always look at the loyalty component as well. For example, with STAR cards, shopping is always the winner for our customers: either they receive on the card, in the form of STAR points, a percentage of the value of the purchase made at one of the 12,000 partners in the STAR program, or they can shop in interest-free installments, with a refund of the amount in a period of up to 24 months. Over 13 million lei in STAR points have received our customers this year, points that can be used for other purchases." - says Oana Ilaş, Executive Director for Retail Products Development and Management, Banca Transilvania.
Digital Banking & Credit Cards
BT credit cards today also mean digital variants for shopping with your mobile phone and other payment accessories (watch, bracelet or sticker), personalized information, self-banking and online communication with the chatbot.
Banca Transilvania's customers can manage their cards around the clock and free of charge through the applications BT24 Internet Banking and Mobile Banking, BT Pay, BT Visual Help - recently launched in collaboration with the international fintech CallVU. NEO BT, the new version of Internet Banking and Mobile Banking that integrates artificial intelligence, available during this period in private beta version, will offer revolutionary functionalities to BT customers, such as analyzing the behavior of money management.
Banca Transilvania also has a chatbot to help customers manage their cards as well as possible, Livia from BT, by phone (0264 308 028 or *8028), Facebook Messenger and Skype. The robot provided over 250,000 responses/month between January and September this year, online. Customers can also inform themselves about the cards through the financial education platform Ask BT, which contains answers to nearly 1,000 questions about services, products, operations and how to proceed in certain situations, in relation to the bank.
