Cătălin Caragea, Banca Transilvania: The private sector is investing and being bold; I believe the state can follow suit.

Cătălin Caragea, Deputy General Manager for Risk at Banca Transilvania, participated in the Europa Connect – România Digitală conference, organized by the Gândul publication, where he referred to the involvement of the private and public sectors in digitization, Romania's potential in the European context, and the directions needed to bridge the gaps.

About Romania's current level of digitization:

  • I believe that there are currently two worlds in Romania: the private world and the public world. The private world invests and is courageous, and I believe that the state can follow suit.

How Romaniacompared to other European Union countries:

  • I see Romania as having enormous potential. I wouldn't necessarily compare us as being behind or ahead, but our potential is truly worth exploring, because we have everything we need.
  • We have human resources, I believe we also have financial resources, both internal sources and available funds, and we also have a geostrategic position and the basic effect, meaning we have room to grow.

About the necessary steps that can help Romania catch up with other countries:

  • Firstly, creating a favorable legislative framework that facilitates development, then closer dialogue between state actors and the private sector, and subsequently concrete action on what is planned.

The Europa Connect project aims to promote and understand European policies and facilitate dialogue with European institutions. It includes monitoring EU initiatives, communicating through Gândul.ro, and organizing annual events in Bucharest, Brussels, and Strasbourg.
