BT's financial results as at 30 June 2021 Banca Transilvania, sustained growth in funding, transaction volume and operations

The first half of the year confirms the recovery of the economy, and Banca Transilvania's achievements in the first half of the year show that BT continued its role as a supporter of the economic development of Romania and of the Romanian people. The bank has consistently financed both the population and companies, increased the volume of operations and generated value for its customers and shareholders. In addition to its dedicated client activity, Banca Transilvania continued to contribute to the consolidation of the banking sector in Romania and signed during the first half of the year a firm commitment to acquire Idea::Bank and the companies of the Idea Romania Group.

We are the bank of the Romanians, we process a volume of operations vital for the economy and we have over 7 million Romanians as direct and indirect shareholders. We are optimistic about the development of the economy and the country, so we are committed to their further growth and to reducing the gap with Western Europe " - says Ömer Tetik, CEO, Banca Transilvania.

As a corporate citizen, Banca Transilvania has contributed over the last five years to the state budget with taxes and duties of more than RON 2.7 billion, directly and indirectly, of which RON 712 million was in 2020. At the same time, BT remains one of the most involved companies in the community, with donations of almost RON 15 million made in the first half of the year.

Financial results as at 30 June 2021
Banca Transilvania Financial Group's assets reached RON 115.3 billion at the end of the first half of this year, with loans increasing to RON 44.4 billion. Customer deposits reached RON 97.2 billion, of which RON 65.9 billion are savings of individuals and RON 31.3 billion of legal entities. The bank's operating efficiency remains at a comfortable level and is 46.7%. BT Group's net consolidated profit is 1,015.5 million lei, of which the bank's is 901 million lei. Subsidiaries and equity holdings contributed more than 114 million lei to BT Group's profitability.

The non-performing exposure ratio, according to the EBA indicator, is 3.47% as at 30 June 2021. The total provision coverage of non-performing exposures according to EBA standards is 148%. The bank's solvency without profit for the first six months of this year is 21.83% and with profit included is 23.54%.

The cost of risk during the first half of 2021 was 0.5%. In the first six months of 2021, the balance of provisions increased by 9.2% to RON 3.485 million, compared to the balance at the end of 2020 (RON 3.190 million).

Funding and support for the Roma in the first six months

  • Between January and June this year, Banca Transilvania granted over 114,000 loans to companies and individuals. Loans to companies amounted to RON 4.8 billion. The bank has approximately 3.14 million retail customers, almost 360,000 SME & Micro customers and approximately 11,000 corporate customers.
  • In 2021, BT continues to be a relevant partner in government and other European programmes, granting in the first half of the year more than 560 million lei in loans through the IMM Invest and AGRO IMM Invest programmes, respectively 648 million lei through programmes with guarantees and European funds.
  • BT has more than 2.3 million unique digital customers, representing 67% of active customers. This is one of the indicators that BT constantly monitors, reflecting the degree of digitisation of the bank. These customers - individuals and businesses - use at least one of the bank's digital solutions - apps, internet banking or mobile banking.
  • The bank reached more than 1.7 million unique cards in BT Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay wallets, and the number of phone payments increased 3-fold in H1 2021 compared to H1 2020, reaching 27 million.
  • Of the more than 1,700 BT ATMs, 560 are multi-functional (BT Express Plus), through which self-banking can be done - from cash deposits in lei and currency, to currency exchange and contactless cash withdrawals.

The financial statements as at 30.06.2021 and 30.06.2020 are audited and those as at 31.12.2020 are audited.
