BT financial results as of 30 June 2021 Banca Transilvania, sustained growth in financing, transaction volume and operations

The first half of the year confirms the relaunch of the economy, and the achievements of Banca Transilvania in the first half of the year show that BT continued its role as a supporter of the economic development of Romania and of the Romanians. The bank has consistently financed both the population and the companies, increased the volume of operations and generated value for its customers and shareholders. In addition to the activity dedicated to its clients, Banca Transilvania continued to contribute to the consolidation of the banking sector in Romania and signed during the first semester of the year the firm commitment to the acquisition of Idea::Bank and the companies from the Idea Romania Group.

"It is a period of Romania's relaunch, and Banca Transilvania has contributed again, increasing the financing and the volume of operations above the market average. We are the Bank of the Romanians, we process a volume of operations vital for the economy and we have over 7 million Romanians direct and indirect shareholders. We are optimistic about the development of the economy and the country, so we put our shoulder to the continuation of their growth and to the reduction of the gaps with western Europe" – says Ömer Tetik, General Manager, Banca Transilvania.

As a corporate citizen, Banca Transilvania has contributed in the last five years to the state budget with taxes and fees of over 2.7 billion lei, directly and indirectly, of which 712 million lei were in 2020. At the same time, BT remains one of the most involved companies in the community, with donations of almost 15 million lei made in the first half of the year.

Financial results as at 30 June 2021
The assets of Banca Transilvania Financial Group reached 115.3 billion lei at the end of the first semester of this year, the loans increasing to 44.4 billion lei. Customer deposits reached 97.2 billion lei, of which 65.9 billion lei are the savings of individuals, and 31.3 billion lei are the savings of legal entities. The operational efficiency of the bank is kept at a comfortable level and is 46.7%. The unconsolidated profit of the BT Group is of 1,015.5 million lei, of which the bank's profit is 901 million lei. Subsidiaries and equity participations contributed over 114 million lei to the profitability of BT Group.

The NPL ratio, according to EBA indicator, is 3.47% as of June 30, 2021. The coverage of non-performing exposures with total provisions according to EBA standards is 148%. The solvency of the bank without the profit of the first six months of this year is 21.83%, and with the profit included is 23.54%.

The cost of risk during the first half of 2021 was 0.5%. In six months of 2021, the balance of provisions increased by 9.2% reaching RON 3.485 million, compared to the balance at the end of 2020 (MDL 3.190 million).

Financing and supporting Romanians in the first six months

  • Between January and June.c. Banca Transilvania granted over 114,000 loans to companies and individuals. Those for companies are worth 4.8 billion lei. The bank has approximately 3.14 million retail clients, almost 360,000 SME & Micro clients and approximately 11,000 corporate clients.
  • In 2021, BT continues to be a relevant partner in government programs and other European programs, giving in the first semester loans worth over 560 million lei through the SME Invest and AGRO SME Invest programs, respectively 648 million lei through programs with European guarantees and funds.
  • BT has over 2.3 million unique digitized customers, which represents 67% of active customers. This is one of the indicators that BT is constantly following, reflecting the degree of digitization of the bank. These clients – individuals and companies – use at least one of the bank's digital solutions – applications, Internet Banking or Mobile Banking.
  • The bank reached over 1.7 million unique cards in the wallets of BT Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay, and the number of payments with the phone increased 3 times in the first half of 2021 compared to the first half of 2020, reaching 27 million.
  • Out of the over 1,700 BT ATMs, 560 are multifunctional (BT Express Plus), through which you can make self-banking – from cash deposits in RON and foreign currency, to currency exchange and contactless cash withdrawals.
