BT supports What's next?, a career guidance and counseling program for students

Banca Transilvania is the partner of the What's next? project, aimed at career counseling and guidance for students, developed by the Save the Children Organization and the Bucharest Centre for Educational Resources and Assistance in the school year 2024-2025, in Bucharest.
The results obtained in 2024 are optimistic, in terms of scope and participation of students in such a program, which helps them explore their potential, skills, qualities and interests. What's next? aimed to guide children and teenagers, through a team of specialists, to make the best possible decisions on their personal and professional paths.
The impact of the project so far:
- Opening access for 900 students to personal guidance;
- Training over 70 vocational guidance and career counseling specialists;
- Organization of 360 counseling sessions.
Fear of failure and insecurity about the future, the difficulties experienced by students in choosing a career
Save the Children Organization and the Bucharest Centre for Educational Resources and Assistance conducted a survey among students in schools selected to be part of the pilot project, and based on the results of the survey, they developed information materials for trainers, students and parents as part of this program.
What the study shows:
- 45% of students are optimistic and 46% are uncertain/moderately optimistic about their professional future.
- 38% of students have heard about career guidance and counseling but have not participated in specific activities.
- 66% of students are willing to devote at least two hours/month to career counseling and guidance activities.
- For career guidance support, students trust parents (75%), applications (46%) and teachers who teach their favorite courses (41%) the most.
- The fear of failure (68%) and uncertainty about the future (54%) are the most common difficulties students have in choosing a career.
