How to avoid phishing

Some useful tips for our customers to avoid phishing attempts and to protect your personal data. We would like to remind you that Banca Transilvania has not and will not request confidential information via e-mail or SMS.

What is phishing?

Phishing is an illegal method of obtaining confidential data through online applications in particular. It usually takes the form of an email in which the recipient is advised to fill in confidential/personal data or is informed that the data is needed due to a technical error that led to the loss of the original data. These communications are designed in such a way as to appear as credible as possible, to appear to be sent by companies.

Our advice:

  • do not access links within unsolicited e-mails or e-mails sent by unknown persons, especially those that appear to be sent by our bank;
  • do not access/download attached files, received via e-mail, unsolicited or received from unknown persons, especially those that appear to be sent by the bank;
  • make sure your laptop or computer has anti-virus and anti-spyware solutions installed and regularly updated.

What to do if you receive an email that "appeared" to be from BT
