Bucharest, December 17th, 2018 - Fitbit(NYSE: FIT), the most well-known global brand of wearables smart devices, announces the premiere launch of the Fitbit Pay payment method in Romania. Starting today, all customers of Banca Transilvania who have the newest Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition tracker or a Fitbit Ionic smartwatch and Fitbit Versa can add their BT Visa card details to the Fitbit application. In this way, they will be able to pay quickly, directly with the product they carry at hand, without needing a card or mobile phone.
"We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the daily life of our users and we are happy to announce the launch for the first time of contactless payments in Romania together with Banca Transilvania. The Fitbit Pay option makes it possible to expand the number of Fitbit users globally, while improving the experience of using our products. From now on, payments will be made much easier and faster, at merchants who accept contactless payment"; says Rares Florea, Regional Country Manager CEE at Fitbit.
"Romanians are increasingly willing to use modern payment methods, especially when transactions are made very quickly. We are pleased that we can introduce the Fitbit Pay option in Romania. Our customers will have a convenient option, at hand, to make contactless shopping on the move and this will change their payment experience and attitude towards the technological resources that now exist on the market", said Oana Ilas, Director of Retail Products Development and Management Banca Transilvania.
The Fitbit Pay option can be easily configured on the Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition, Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa by going through simple steps in the Fitbit mobile app and adding the BT Visa card directly to the Fitbit Wallet section. And transactions at merchants that accept contactless payments will be easy to make, you only need to press the button on the left side of the device until the functionality is active, then keep the device close to the card reader until you see that the payment has been accepted.
In addition, transactions with Fitbit Pay are secure. Using a standard token generation platform, the card information is not stored or transmitted to merchants or to Fitbit.
Fitit Pay operates with over 165 banks and card issuers in over 22 countries. More information on how to set the contactless payment option can be found here: community, video.
