Individuals can open 100% online a current account at Banca Transilvania, through NEOcont

Update [15 April]: NEOcont has been very well received, there are over 100 account openings every day. 

Banca Transilvania launches for its future clients NEOcont. The first step towards BT now means zero trips to the bank for signatures, but also zero fees for a number of services. What NEOcont brings to individuals: bank account that can be used immediately, debit card received at home, possibility to pay by card (including bills, taxes and duties) or by phone, information about money in the account and transactions, respectively the possibility to send or request money.  

NEOcont is one of the features of the bank's new digital platform, NEO, which is ready to be launched after the current social and economic context has been overcome, i.e. with the return to business as usual . NEOcont is being launched now because the bank has brought forward the timetable of projects for the next period, so as to help people who need a bank account without having to make a trip to BT.

Through NEOcont a person can open a BT current account in lei remotely and choose to receive a debit card at home, by courier. They can also download the free BT Pay application to their phone to enrol their card. Once enrolled, the card appears in the application in digital format, and the customer can make purchases by paying with the phone, check the money in the account and the payments.

The bank does not charge any fees for opening and managing the account, or for issuing cards that can be ordered through NEOcont.

BT account in 6 steps:

• Access the NEOcont page on the BT website and go through the steps until the video call to the bank;
• Uploading the photo of the identity card of the person who wants NEOcont; filling in some information (mobile phone with number in Romania, email), taking a selfie and uploading the photo;
• Video call the Customer Care NEO team, by accessing the link received by email; it is necessary to check beforehand that the webcam and microphone of the phone/laptop/computer are working;
• Electronic signature;
• Receiving by email the documents confirming the opening of the account with BT;
• Receiving the IBAN of the account by phone message.

Cards and phone banking for future BT customers:

• Visa Classic Card: is an everyday card that provides access to the money in your current account. It is known as the "salary card" and is the most requested and used bank card. Students can apply for the BT OmniPass card.
• BT Pay: the app offers the possibility to make contactless payments with the phone, check transactions and money in the account, send/remove money to/from people in the phonebook who use BT Pay, easy card management, etc. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store, on Android and iOS smartphones and requires the digital addition of the card.

How NEOcont helps new customers:

• I get a bank account in lei, which can be used immediately. This must be communicated, for example, in order to receive money. The IBAN is received by SMS with the NEOcont request.
• The card comes straight home, by courier.
• I can pay by card for orders placed online at merchants.
• Utility bills, fees and taxes can be paid from home, using the card to pay directly on the suppliers' websites or other official websites for other types of payments (e.g. www.ghiseul.ro, www.globalpay.ro).
• With BT Pay, a free downloadable app: customers pay directly with their phone to merchants, no need for a physical card or cash; they have access to information about the money in their account and transactions, to organize their budget; they can send and request money from people in their phonebook who are BT customers, but also to other people, in which case they need to know their IBAN; they can make payments in lei to any bank account in Romania. Money sent from a BT personal account to another BT account is received immediately.
