Banca Transilvania and the Bucharest Rescue Society Association launch Blood Bank

  • The novelty of the Blood Bank program: creating a community of constant donors
  • On the online platform of the program are updated live information about the need for blood of transfusion centers in the country

Banca Transilvania and the Bucharest Rescue Society Association, in collaboration with the Bucharest Blood Transfusion Center and the County Blood Transfusion Centers, are launching the Blood Bank, a long-term initiative that aims to contribute to the creation of an online community of constant donors. Each donor is encouraged to invite, through the Blood Bank website, three other people who, in turn, to donate.

In order to help the transfusion centers to have blood reserves, another novelty that the program comes with are the live information on its platform, regarding the need for blood in the country. Registered donors will be notified via SMS when blood is needed.

"The Blood Bank is a soul project of the Transylvania Bank. We want to make a contribution to the community we are part of, to encourage involvement and to lend a helping hand to those in need" - said Ionela Misculescu, Development Director, Division for Physicians, Banca Transilvania.

"Themostimportant need in terms of blood donation is certainly the number of constant donors. We are in dire need of platelets and they can only be obtained from such donors. Less than 2% of the Romanian population donates blood, which is less than half of the European average" – says Doina Gosa, director of the Bucharest Transfusion Center.

The headline of the program is Donate. It matters.
