Mythbusting: truths about graft
The overdraft is that moment when the bank account is blocked and, as usual, we don't really know at the time what the reason is. And then we tell ourselves that we haven't had such a day for a long time.
Basically, the amounts owed are (p)stopped - not to the bank, as is commonly believed - but, for example, to the ANAF (National Tax Administration Agency). It can be forgotten payment of a tax - as an individual or company. Because, after all, we all owe a tax 😊 at some point. And, yes, it happens that we fall behind on payments for various reasons, although paying taxes can be done very easily, online, by card.
About the garnishments, just to be on topic:
- Populations are generated by one thing: not by bad luck 😊, but by debts to certain institutions, such as ANAF.
- Who can issue attachments? ANAF, the tax department, the courts/parish courts or bailiffs.
- The bank blocks the account only on the basis of an official information received from an institution such as those mentioned, and not on its own initiative.
- The bank is legally obliged to implement the attachment, and unfortunately blocking the amounts in the accounts means that you can no longer withdraw money from branches or ATMs, nor can you make transfers or payments.
- There are also exceptions: child allowances and other benefits, maternity benefits, study grants, daily allowances and death grants are exempt from withholding.
- If you are a BT customer, you will receive an SMS from us when the attachment is set up, putting you on the subject.
- If you have a single garnishment and you receive your salary through the bank - whatever it is - the bank is obliged to withhold 1/3 of your net monthly salary. If there are several attachments, the bank is obliged to withhold 1/2 of the amount of the net monthly salary received. The difference can be used, after the release of the amount due, in other words, you have access to it through applications, cards or if you come to the bank and you can do what you want - payments, cash withdrawals, etc. If your employer already withholds 1/3 or 1/2 of your salary, you can request the release of the full salary, but you must bring us a document proving the employer's withholding, namely Annex 5.
- In order to release an amount from the attachment, the bank needs a legal justification or an agreement from the institution issuing the attachment.
- The bank transfers the debt (the amounts blocked in the attachment) in 3 to 5 days to the issuing institution.
What you need to do if your account is frozen to help us unblock your account:
- You ask for information from BT and/or the institution that issued the attachment. You can always access BT Visual Help to find out information about your attachment.
- You can request the release of the legal share of your monthly salary (1/3 or 1/2) by:
BT Visual Help
🔸 call 0264 308 000;
🔸 go to the link received by SMS and, from the main menu, select the "Popriri" section;
🔸 select the attachment and request the amount to be released.
Livia from BTby calling 0264 30 80 28/task 0.
Even if your account is overdrawn:
You can make the turnover on your BT credit card if it is blocked due to garnishment. Basically, you can deposit money, but you cannot withdraw or make transactions until the levy is paid in full;
You can take credit for companies if you have a company, even if you have a lien on your account. But the loan must first be paid off the debts that generated the attachment;
Populations are not a pleasant situation for anyone, not even for the bank. We want people to have access to money and have the best experience with BT 🤝.
