Banca Transilvania climbs in brand finance banking 500 2021 ranking

Banca Transilvania climbs to 302nd place in the Brand Finance Banking 500 2021 ranking - up from 339th place in 2019 - with a 19% increase in brand value to USD 441 million. The analysis was conducted by Brand Finance, an independent global brand valuation firm.

The value of a brand is the net economic benefit an owner would obtain by licensing the brand. Along with financial results, brand strength is a key determinant of brand value.

• Brand Finance also determines the relative strength of brands, through a series of indicators (balaced scorecard): marketing investment, brand equity (the reputation accumulated with customers, consumers, employees and other stakeholders), and their impact on market performance.
  
  
• Amid falling profits and government efforts to manage the pandemic crisis, nearly two-thirds of the 500 most valuable global banking brands have seen a decline in brand value, according to the Brand Finance report. The total value ranking registers its second consecutive annual contraction, from $1.330 billion in 2020 to $1.270 billion in 2021. The top ranking is dominated by banks in China and the US, which together generate more than 50% of the total value of the Banking 500 ranking.
  
  
• Each year, Brand Finance evaluates over 5,000 of the most valuable global brands and publishes over 100 sector and country reports. The 500 most valuable banking brands are included in the annual Brand Finance Banking report.

The Banca Transilvania brand entered this ranking in 2018, at position 486, with a value of $174 million. In 2019, it climbed almost 50 positions in the top, and in 2020, 100 positions compared to 2019.
